We finally got clearance from the on-call pediatrician to come home Saturday afternoon, so we bundled Claire up in her finest outfit and hit the road. Fortunately, Stu didn’t get lost going home (in contrast to our dash to the hospital Thursday morning, which involved a few more turns than necessary). Click here or on the photo below for pictures.
Katherine and I are thrilled to introduce you to the newly named Claire Elizabeth West. Click here or on the picture below for a slideshow of her final two days at the hospital. We almost made it home Friday afternoon (I’d even carried a load to the car), but a last minute jaundice test result indicated another night of monitoring and some treatment with a very cool blue light pad.

Our beautiful baby joined us at 1:53pm this afternoon. 7 lbs, 6 oz. Katherine is doing great.

We’re at the hospital and everything is going well (there’s even wireless internet in our delivery room). Our doctor says Katherine is in active labor and should definitely be having the baby today!
Katherine’s contractions start Wednesday evening and got pretty intense around 3am. They’re now about 3-4 minutes apart, and we called our doctor who said we should head off to the hospital!
Today is our official due date, but as of an appointment with our obstetrician this morning it appears our baby is pretty content right now. We’ll post updates every day or so.
