One of the girls’ most favorite movies is the Sound of Music<\/em>\u00a0so we made sure to visit Salzburg<\/a>\u00a0on our trip. It’s a half-day drive from Prague through the beautiful Czech and Austrian countryside (we stopped for lunch and a taste of good old American cuisine). The town is charming,\u00a0along the banks of a the Salzach River<\/a>, with lots of history, architecture, and art. We stayed in a fairly central hotel<\/a>\u00a0that included\u00a0handy foot bathtubs that Juliet\u00a0noticed and liked across Europe. We enjoyed some fun walks around the old town — at times in\u00a0some pouring\u00a0rain — to visit local sights including the Makartsteg bridge which is covered by\u00a0“love locks”, the\u00a0Salzburg Cathedral<\/a>, and\u00a0the\u00a0Hohensalzburg Castle<\/a>\u00a0where we played outdoor chess. Of course we also did\u00a0a\u00a0Sound of Music<\/em>\u00a0tour which was a fun way to visit many of the locations for the film while singing its\u00a0classic songs.<\/p>\n
