{"id":689,"date":"2009-10-23T00:22:52","date_gmt":"2009-10-23T07:22:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westfamilyblog.com\/?p=689"},"modified":"2009-10-23T00:22:52","modified_gmt":"2009-10-23T07:22:52","slug":"pink-tornado","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westfamilyblog.com\/?p=689","title":{"rendered":"Pink Tornado"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month we had a great family visit from my sisters Mona and Eileen along with Eileen&#8217;s husband Abbas and their three daughters Sara, Sophie and Susan (I call them the &#8220;pink tornado&#8221;). Friday night Eileen and Abbas had a quiet evening up in San Francisco, while down in Menlo Park the five girls under ten outnumbered adults and went crazy playing in a\u00a0tent in our backyard, munching <a href=\"http:\/\/www.applewoodpizza.com\/\">pizza<\/a> on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littletikes.com\/toys\/easy-store-table-with-umbrella-primary-colors.aspx\">new kids&#8217; picnic table<\/a>, and gazing at a bright <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jupiter\">Jupiter<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moons_of_Jupiter\">its moons<\/a> through some binoculars.\u00a0\u00a0Saturday morning we visited the\u00a0local fire department&#8217;s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.menlofire.org\/pdf\/SavetheDate09.pdf\">pancake breakfast<\/a> and saw lots of safety demonstration and rescue dogs. \u00a0We also checked out the neighborhood playgrounds, hosted a friend of Eileen&#8217;s and her family, picked figs from the tree in our backyard, and enjoyed Sara taking lots of pictures including some pretty art shots of trees. \u00a0Finally we had a Saturday night birthday dinner for me featuring a &#8220;train cake&#8221;, a family tradition involving individual pound cakes, chocolate frosting, and lots of decorative candy.\u00a0After the Shobeiris left Sunday, Mona stayed for a relatively serene few days.\u00a0Click on the picture below for a big slideshow including lots of Sara&#8217;s pictures.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"toggleborder\" title=\"slideshow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/22311334@N00\/sets\/72157622643845018\/show\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"centered\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2683\/4036686960_4510c49f6c_m.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" alt=\"Celebrating my 40th birthday\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month we had a great family visit from my sisters Mona and Eileen along with Eileen&#8217;s husband Abbas and their three daughters Sara, Sophie and Susan (I call them the &#8220;pink tornado&#8221;).
