We stayed in\u00a0a cottage called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wales-holidays.co.uk\/property_detail.php?id=g288\">Cefn Bwlch<\/a> on a farm near\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Llanberis\">Llanberis<\/a>, a village on the Western edge of the park in the shadow of the highest peak in Wales, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snowdon\">Snowdon<\/a>.\u00a0Our routine was similar to the Lake District, with only a few changes as our cottage was\u00a0down a\u00a0200-yard lane\u00a0too narrow for our car. Highlights included taking a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.snowdonrailway.co.uk\/\">train<\/a> up Snowdon (Claire loved the view),\u00a0enjoying tasty Indian food, more fish &amp; chips, beers at a famous\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pyg.co.uk\/\">hangout for British mountaineers<\/a>, and seeing many, many <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Welsh_language\">words without vowels<\/a>.\u00a0We particularly enjoyed sunset at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.portmeirion-village.com\/\">Portmeirion<\/a>, a surreal and\u00a0lovely Mediterranean-style resort village Anne and Peter recommended on a beautiful estuary of Cardigan Bay on the Irish Sea.<\/p>\n<p>To wrap things up, we headed back to London via a quick, windswept, and rainy visit to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stonehenge\">Stonehenge<\/a>.\u00a0The return flight home was surprisingly straightforward and Claire was, as usual, an angel.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the photo below for a slideshow.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"toggleborder\" title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/22311334@N00\/sets\/72157602767609322\/show\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"centered\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2140\/1794630396_e995a2e876_m.jpg?resize=240%2C240\" alt=\"Llanberis pass\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We ended our UK vacation with five days in Northern Wales around Snowdonia National Park.
