Octopus Report

One day in school, my teacher said we were going to be writing reports. I chose to write one about octopuses. I chose to write about octopuses because I thought it looked like an interesting thing to write about. I’m really proud of my report. This was the first year we started writing real reports. Here it is. I hope you enjoy it!

Octopuses are a wonder. In some ways they seem like alien creatures. They can do things that no other animals can do. There are about 300 different species of octopuses! If you could be any octopus, what species would you be?

If I could be any octopus I would be The Caribbean octopus. It is one of my favorite. It can rapidly change colors to blend with its surroundings. It can even be practically invisible. One of the most dangerous octopuses in the world is the blue-ringed octopus. The octopus carries enough venom to kill 26 humans within minutes. You can recognize it by its yellowish skin and blue rings. Although it looks harmless and small, don’t touch it. Another fascinating octopus is the coconut octopus. The coconut octopus is about the size of your thumb. It has a habit of hiding in empty coconut shells, that’s how it got its name. All of these octopuses have really cool parts of their body.

Did you know that octopuses have nine brains? You might think they are really smart. Your correct! They are one of the most intelligent creatures in the ocean. Octopuses also have blue blood, hundreds of suckers along their arms, and three hearts. Octopuses are Invertebrates. Invertebrates are animals with no backbone, octopuses don’t even have any bones. They have excellent vision. If octopuses have these cool body parts what can they do?

Because octopuses have no bones they can slip easily through cracks. When in danger they squirt a cloud of black ink and jet of in another direction. Octopuses arms are lined with suckers, which means the can open jars, move clamshells, and move objects. They can also take apart tubes from an aquarium tank.

Octopuses are really cool creatures. They are so different from any other animal. Their really intelligent and can do so many cool things. I really think octopuses are fascinating creatures.

Eclipse

On Monday I saw a 100% total solar eclipse. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. I was there with 8 other people:  Dale, John, Dawn, Chuck, my Aunt Mona, my dad, my mom, and Claire. We saw it in Oregon. As the moon was covering the sun, it was getting darker and colder. Suddenly, it got so dark I could see the stars. It was only two minutes. I can’t think of anything more beautiful than a 100% total solar eclipse.

My Half Birthday

Saturday August 5th was my half birthday. My sister was at a sleepover while I had a great time with my mom and dad. First I made lunch. I made quesadillas. After lunch, my dad and I went outside to read. After we read for about twenty minutes, we played ping pong. After ping pong I went inside to sort snap circuits with mommy. Then we went to dinner at Delfina, and I had pasta. My half birthday treat was gelato. Then we watched Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. My half birthday was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finish The Story

Susan hated her freckles.  She wanted to make them vanish.  So she got some vanishing cream.  After she rubbed it on, she looked in the mirror.  Her freckles had vanished, but so had her face!  Susan had become invisible. Write what happened next.

The next day her family was looking for her. She kept saying “I’m here I’m here” but they did not see her. So, she went to school by herself. When she got there, she was marked absent.

When she was at recess, a girl said “Hi.” It was strange. “My name is Kylee. I have a magic power to see through invisibility.” “Whoa that’s really cool.” Susan said.

Kylee said, “Do you want some unvanishing cream?” Susan said “Sure.” So, Kylee grabbed a bottle of cream. Kylee said, “You should probably put it on at your house.” “Ok,” she said. So she went home to put on the cream so her family could see her again.

The next day at school Susan and Kylee had a good time together. They became best friends.

Starbursts are better than Hot Tamales

I think Starbursts are better than Hot Tamales.

One reason is that Hot Tamales are spicy, and I don’t like spicy things. I don’t like spicy things because they feel weird in my mouth.

Another reason is Hot Tamales only have one flavor, spicy cinnamon, and Starbursts have many flavors.

The last reason is that Starbursts come in a wrapper, so you have to unwrap them, so you eat them slower.

Now I hope I’ve convinced you to go get some Starbursts!

Surprise Visit From Nora

Yesterday my old babysitter, Nora, came for a surprise visit. My mommy asked us to closed our eyes and then when we opened them we saw Nora. I felt really excited when I saw her. The last time we saw her was at Christmas.❄️  When I think of her I think of the gingerbread house we made.

When she got there we showed her our garage. Then when we asked her if she wanted a drink, she said “sure, I’ll have lemonade.”  After she got her drink, we played ping pong and jumped on the trampoline.

Playdate with Anna

Yesterday I had a playdate with Anna, who is a friend we visited in Malaysia. She just moved back last week. I visited her in Malaysia in April.

Here are some things we did. We went on the slack line, we went on the swings, and we played in the fort we made.

For the fort, we had a couple of ideas. Our ideas were…..We could make one in the living room with chairs and blankets. We could make one in our bedroom with blankets and our beds. Last but not least…we could make one in the playroom! We decided to make a fort in our bedroom.

Near the end, Anna’s dad found a wasp nest. It freaked me out. In the end Anna’s dad sprayed the wasps and they fell.

The Sound of Music

Yesterday at Hope Musical Theater summer camp, our homework was to bring in a fact about the musical “The Sound of Music” or the real Von Trap family. I had to listen to the soundtracks of “The Sound of Music” and “Sister Act”.

For my facts I wrote: The musical’s original title was “The Singing Heart”. Also, original audience members were totally convinced that “Edelweiss” was an actual Austrian folk song. Kym Karath, who played little Gretl, was already a film vet when she auditioned for the Sound of Music. She was feeling so adult that, for her audition, she sang “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.” She was five.

Book Report part 3

Problem: The problem is the sea violin is missing. All of the animals are losing their colors because the violin isn’t played. If the violin isn’t played Aquamarina will disappear.

Conclusion: They found the sea violin. When they were finding the violin it led to different passages. In the end they found the violin.

Favorite part: The wedding of queen Anemone and prince Nautilus. It was beautiful. I loved it.

Next up I’m reading Percy Jackson.

Bye, bye!

Book report part 2

Characters:Thea, Paulina, Colette, Violet, Nickey, Pamela, and Will are the characters.

Main Events:The main event is when the Thea sisters are  finding the sea violin. They looked in Aquamarina. After they find the violin they have to find the strings of the violin.

I’ll finish up tomorrow!
