1-year checkup

We took Claire for her 12-month checkup today and she is as healthy as can be. At 31.75 inches, she’s outpaced her friends and grown to the 99th percentile in height (up from 96% at 9-months). At 22 lbs, 14 oz, she’s the 76th percentile in weight down from 85th three months ago. So, she’s getting taller and thinner…. obviously she has her mother’s genes!

9-month checkup

We took Claire for her 9-month checkup this morning. At 29.5 inches, she’s an unsurprising 96th percentile in height. At just over 21 pounds, she’s at the 85th percentile in weight. Contrary to our nervous questioning, Dr. Drucker told us Claire is not gaining too much weight, is not teething too late, is not eating too many carrots, is not standing too little, is not drinking too much formula, is not suffering from food allergies, and is not sleeping too much. She also told us Claire is now ready to eat pancakes so when Grandma Judy visits this weekend we might have to make some!

Halloween 2007

Claire had a ball with her first Halloween, trick-or-treating around the neighborhood and going to dress-up day at one of the moms’ groups Katherine attends. She also had her four-month check-up and she passed with flying colors. At 25 1/4 inches she’s at the 84th percentile and at 14 lbs 6 ounces she’s at the 66th, so seems on track to have her mother’s proportions!

Portions

Claire has recently been consuming about 24 ounces of food each day.  Wednesday at her pediatrician appointment, she weighed in at 7 lbs, 12 ounces.  So in a given day, she’s eating about 19% of her own body weight!  If she were to grow to 140 pounds as an adult, and continue eating and drinking at this rate, she would consume over 27 pounds a day.  Wow!

Proportions

I love infant proportions. Claire is about 20 inches long. Her feet are 3 1/2 inches long. If she were to grow to 5’10” (a safe bet given her parents) and maintain the same proportions, her left and right foot would each be over 12 inches long! That’s about a men’s size 15. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
