Halloween 2013 was more candy-themed than usual. Claire went as a candycorn while Juliet was a lollipop fairy. There was also face painting, pumpkin patch visiting, and school halloween parties/parades. Finally, the girls picked out a 3-foot tall orange pumpkin lantern for the front yard.

Don’t cry, it’s only a ghost!
The girls got excited about knock-knock jokes this Halloween season. Other highlights of October included a visit to our local pumpkin patch, many fun parties with friends, and of course, trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Another Halloween, another set of cute costumes of the girls who went as two fairies, one green and one black. We’ve got pictures of various playdates, pumpkin patch visits, costume tryouts, school parties, and of course trick-or-treating. This year we have so many families with young kids in our neighborhood that we closed the street, had pizza on picnic tables in the middle of the block around 5pm, then let the kids loose collecting candy. Our friends the Klugmans came over and joined us. Thanks to word getting out about the street closing, we had more trick-or-treaters than ever visit our house and we almost ran out of candy! Halloween this year was a fun treat, with Claire as a pink butterfly, Juliet as a flower, and me in full costume as an overworked startup guy. Our first Halloween with two kids was so much fun we stretched it out over a few weeks, including trips to the pumpkin patch, costume tryouts, a party or two, backyard photo shoots, and at last an evening trick-or-treating up and down the block seeing our neighbors. Claire was a strawberry fairy for Halloween this year. We had a few fun visits with friends to the local pumpkin patch, where Claire was less than enthusiastic about her first pony ride. We also enjoyed a fun pumpkin carving party with our friends John, Bam and Tori Toth. Finally, the big day itself with two rounds of trick or treating, the first with our friends the Klugmans and their twins at the local Mall and the second around our neighbhorhood, with Claire enjoying her first lollipop. Claire had a ball with her first Halloween, trick-or-treating around the neighborhood and going to dress-up day at one of the moms’ groups Katherine attends. She also had her four-month check-up and she passed with flying colors. At 25 1/4 inches she’s at the 84th percentile and at 14 lbs 6 ounces she’s at the 66th, so seems on track to have her mother’s proportions!
